The jazz genre is defined by improvisation, musicians responding and reacting much like we do when speaking with each other. This weekend Eureka Springs celebrates 33 years of this American art form with Jazz Eureka. Basin Park will host free music in the amphitheater on Friday and Saturday afternoon, and one of the acts in the park is the Lao Tizer Band whose leader, Tizer, has a career that has produced more than nine albums. A teenage prodigy whose music has evolved with him, Tizer has made music that goes from minimalist to full-on glorious. The latest album, released in March of this year, Songs From The Swinghouse has two elements new to Tizer’s work –a vocalist and three covers of rock songs, of course re-arranged with the Tizer touch. I guarantee you have never imagined Led Zeppelen’s “Ramble On” like they do it. With the band stretching up to 15 members at times, the stage is packed with a Grammy winning guitarist and saxophonist and many Grammy nominated artists. The Lao Tizer Band plays Basin Park at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, don’t miss this red-carpet worthy band!
