James Raymond Jackson August 24, 1933 – Sept. 2, 2022

James Raymond Jackson of Eureka Springs, Ark., and in later life Las Vegas, Nev., was born in Ft. Leavenworth Kansas on August 24, 1933, a son of Brigadier General James Leroy Jackson and Mary Clemence Jackson of Eureka Springs.   

He departed this life Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, in Las Vegas at age 89. 

 Jim grew up in Eureka Springs and followed in his father’s footsteps and served in the Air Force in the early 1950s during the Korean War. After his service he continued with his passion for all things flying and became a pilot.  

In late 1960s he started his 20+ career oversees in the Middle East flying for oil companies in places such as Bahrain, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.  

In the early 1980s he moved his family back to Eureka Springs where he raised his daughter and continued to fly commercially. 

His love of flying stayed with him his whole life and until the very end he was able to enjoy teaching, training, and piloting younger generations. His life was an adventure that he was always ready for, and he will be missed by all. He is survived by his friends in his flying community and his daughter, Sarah Lee Jackson of Las Vegas, Nevada.
