It may snow. It might not. As of writing this I’m not sure what it’ll be. But as we possibly all get snowed in, I want to say that Monday evenings city council was incredibly emotional and beautiful. To see every alderman, the mayor and the city attorney take a stand for the rights of others and the arts was amazing to watch. And everything said by them and the performers who spoke during Public Comments was far more elegant than I could ever manage. I hope my children will be able to enjoy the art of drag in this state as time moves forward, and I want to scream at the top of my lungs for those who will be most affected by SB43. Just like alderman Avanzino, I’m angry. I’m angry that my friends, my family, have their rights being threatened for the umpteenth time in my lifetime. It’s so infuriating I can’t put it into words and out of all my family I am least affected. I don’t know how others who have had to deal with these injustices longer and more directly can be so elegant. You all are amazing. ~j
