Issue 3 defeated, CAPC to continue

The City Advertising and Promotion Commission got a nod from Eureka Springs voters to continue operation and its 3% tax. The margin was wide, 339 for dissolution and 839 in favor of keeping it.

Tabulations came in two hours after the polls closed on Tuesday, and in Carroll County, 11,522 votes were cast, with 8,403 early voters, 2,813 election day voters, and 306 absentee ballots. Of the 16,636 registered voters, 69.62% cast a vote.

State Representative District 6 incumbent Harlan Breaux’s 5900 votes defeated Democrat Rick Delaney, who collected 3,274, and Libertarian Dakota Logan at 494.

Incumbent John Howerton was defeated by Caroline Rogers, 646 to 429, for Justice of the Peace and a seat on the Carroll County Quorum Court.

The Holiday Island Advertising and Promotion tax took the trophy, 780 for and 621 against. Ken Mills defeated Bryce Holland for Holiday Island City Council Ward 1, Position 2, 673 to 560.

Jim Wallace beat Jay Galyen for Western Township Constable, 2,057 to 1,635.

The U.S. Congress will get Rep. Steve Womack back after he beat Democrat Caitlin Draper, 7,735 to 3,384.

State Treasurer votes went to Republican John Thurston, 7,356 to John Pagan’s 3,416, with 458 for Libertarian Michael Pakko.

Rhonda Wood was defeated by Karen Baker, 5776 to 4312, for State Supreme Court Justice Position 1.

In the race for President of the United States, Carroll County voters preferred Donald Trump at 7,438, over Kamala Harris at 3,791. Jill Stein got 45.
