lla Maxine Crossland Smallwood, 92, of Purdy, Mo., passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 at her home.
She was born September 21, 1926 in Pulaski County, Mo., the daughter of John and Rebecca (Atkins) Crossland. On May 17, 1946 she was united in marriage to James Smallwood, who preceded her death on June 25, 2005.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter-in-law, Tammy Smallwood, brothers and sisters.
Survivors include five sons, James Smallwood and his wife, Debbie, of Eureka Springs, Ark., Boyce Smallwood and his wife, Mona, of Seligman, Mo., Teddy Smallwood and his wife, Leann, of Seligman, Perry Smallwood of Purdy, and Jerry Smallwood and his wife, Becky, of Eureka Springs; three daughters, Janice Henry and her husband, James, Donna Reed and her husband, Thomas, and Darla Reed and her husband, David, all of Cassville, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Maxine grew up in Pulaski County and attended school in Waynesville, Mo. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church in Douglas County, Mo. She loved to paint and fish, and enjoyed flowers and playing dominos.

Graveside services were held Jan. 15, 2019 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Eureka Springs, Ark., under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Doyle Russell conducted the services.
