The community is invited to a free concert featuring three groups from the University of Arkansas Student Chamber Music Tour on Monday, May 16 at 1 p.m. The hour-long event will take place in Berryville’s Pioneer Park, presented by the Berryville Library with the Berryville Community Center.

This tour of student ensembles is the first of its kind and is designed to allow students to perform at the highest caliber in a variety of community venues while entertaining music lovers and introducing chamber music to potential new fans.

The Hawksbill Winds, named after well-known scenic landmark Hawksbill Crag, is a student-based woodwind quintet at the University of Arkansas that strives to portray the serene feeling associated with nature.

The Loblolly Brass Quintet is named after the Arkansas state tree to symbolize the home and roots of the ensemble. The mission of the quintet is to develop as professional musicians through diverse repertoire, mature performance opportunities, and collaboration.

The Castalia Saxophone Quartet was created by four accomplished solo musicians to perform saxophone chamber music at an exceedingly high level. Their repertoire focuses on works for strings that have been transcribed for saxophone.

Come early, find a good spot, and picnic while enjoying a great concert. The Outer Limits Food Truck will be onsite from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Pioneer Park is located behind the Berryville Library. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Berryville Community Center Auditorium. For more information contact the Berryville Library (870) 654-6565.

The concert is made possible by the Music75 initiative of the University of Arkansas Music Department, the University of Arkansas Band Program, and the Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center Student Success Grant.
