Editor,
Yesterday I woke in the middle of night in excruciating pain. Fortunately, I had the Eureka Springs Hospital. Unfortunately for the staff it was an extremely busy night. Yet, I was still given quick, profession[al] and compassionate care. They were able to access my condition with a c-scan machine, lab work and medication before I was airlifted to the corridor for emergency surgery.
Without that tiny hospital things might have been very different for me. And very different for a young man who had a head injury who was airlifted out before me.
Over the years I have taken friends, tourist and our lodging guests there. Everyone I have taken there has had nothing but good things to say about their care. Again, how different things might have been for them. Myself now included! Like the song says, “you don’t appreciate things until they are gone.”
Our city hospital commission is working hard on grants to expand and modernize our tiny hospital. I now know how lucky we are to have a hospital. With the growth in our population and tourism my hope is we the citizens will understand the need that this area has for a health facility.
Thank you, Eureka Springs Hospital,
Melissa Greene
