Eureka Springs resident, Hook, (given name Steven Henry Hilkemeyer) departed this earthly plane surrounded by his loving Peachtree family on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021. He now watches over his daughter, sisters and brother, their families and his many beloved friends.
Known as Steve to his loving sisters and brother, but better known as Hook to the Eurekans who might have seen him lifting a heavy rock onto a Planer Hill wall or caught him at the Crescent Hotel planting flowers or at a local residence laying a stone path. He was a welcome face at Chelsea’s where he would enjoy music and camaraderie with friends and would give anyone the shirt off his back, as he didn’t know a stranger. He also enjoyed a good crossword puzzle and was naturally one with nature.
He was a lovely, kind, and peaceful presence and he left a lasting impression on those he loved. Darlin’, you will forever be in our hearts and we will think of you with every holey rock we find.
Mr. Hook — I remember you well. A good man. I don’t think I ever met a harder worker in my life. Rest in peace, old Friend — you deserve it.
