Highlanders headed to Harrison

The Eureka Springs soccer teams celebrated Senior Night on Earth Day, April 22. The girls’ team started the night off with a 3-1 win against Decatur. The Highlander girls advanced to state, and this was their last game until they go to Harrison to compete at the state tournament on Thursday, May 9 at 11 a.m. If they win, they will compete the following day, May 10.

The boys played a well-fought game against Decatur, but ended the game 2-2. The game went into penalty kicks, and Decatur came out the winner. This game was important to both teams, as they were competing for second place in the conference.

The boys played again on Thursday, April 25, against the Lead Hill Tigers. Eureka had some trouble communicating throughout the first half but fixed it up, and the Highlanders ended the game with a 5-2 win. This secured their third-place finish in conference.

The boys were scheduled to finish the regular season Monday night at home against the Bergman Bobcats. The boys’ first game at the state tournament will be at 5 p.m. on May 9. The state competition will continue in Harrison May 9-11.
