HI Planning prepping for final zoning approval

297

Holiday Island Planning Commission’s meeting spent nearly two hours reviewing additional definitions to zoning regulations including defining short term rentals, post office and the Planning Commission, to be reviewed by the city attorney.

They also reviewed recommendations proposed by their attorney to those regulations, including requirements for any variance made by the Board of Zoning Adjustment to include a notice of public hearing published 14 days preceding the date of a meeting in a newspaper of general circulation.

Regarding the zoning map and zoning text changes, any proposed text changes must have a public hearing with a public notice published 15 days prior to the hearing. Planning then gives the recommendation to city council and council may either choose to act on that recommendation, make their own decision, or choose to deny the recommendation entirely. If no decision is made in three months, the process begins anew.

Additional language regarding Conditional Use Permit applications was added, and council discussed whether CUP decision appeal should go to council or straight to court.
