Herbert L. Hilton of Oakridge, passed away on August 2 at home with his family, after a battle with cancer. He was 87. Herb was born May 14, 1935, to Jess and Minnie (Hague) Hilton in Oak Hill, Arkansas. In 1958 Herb joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1960. He was incredibly proud to have served in the military and would often talk about that time in his life with great fondness.

Herb was a log truck driver for most of his life. In addition to driving log trucks, he owned and operated a service station, drove dump trucks, was a mechanic at Oakridge Trucking Company, and ran a mechanic shop in San Diego, Calif.

Nobody could tell a story quite like Herb, he would bend the ear of anyone who would listen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time outdoors and with family. He will be greatly missed.
