HDC approves new home motif

The Historic District Commission met Dec. 6, with a bare quorum and a light agenda.

Commissioners only had one item to consider. William and Amanda Abbott applied to build a new single-family residence at 10-12 Corley Loop with plans for cedar-texture lap siding and a standing-seam roof. Commissioners approved the project.

Chair Dee Bright read a letter complaining that Corley Loop had never been properly developed by the city, and the city has now lost leverage to improve the road.

In other business:

  • Bright reminded residents of the city that folders on individual properties are maintained at city hall. Any permits are recorded in those folders, but she encouraged homeowners to keep up with their history and record changes like paint colors.
  • The HDC will next meet at 6 p.m. on Jan. 3. Level III applications are due Dec. 20, and Level II on Dec. 27.
