Well, I have a great picture for you this week, here we have Karson Kahley with his big catch of the day.

Karson is the son of Kris and Carol Kahley from Meriden, Kansas, staying at Spider Creek Resort for their visit. They also brought along their daughter and her fiancée for a total of five people on the boat with Robert Johnson from Fish of Excellence Guide Service.

Located in Holiday Island, Ark., Robert knows his stuff. He’s a striper guide on Beaver Lake but also takes people fishing on Table Rock Lake for walleye, crappie, trout, and bass. One of the things I like about Robert’s services is if you’re not catching the fish you were targeting, for then skip over to different species and different methods.

What’s amazing to me is he has equipment for all occasions, always a fish in the boat. He offers sightseeing tours for people who are not interested in fishing but want to be out in nature. He also used to write this column for the paper before I did. Very knowledgeable in his field. You can look him up on the web at fishofexcellence.com.

On the White River, trout are hopping. Powerbait in white and sunrise colors, mix it up with wax worms or redworms in the morning time. Then when the heat of the day comes around go to deeper holes and try some nightcrawlers injected with air, or lure. Let the lure of choice drop some before reeling it in. As you retrieve it, run it and occasionally, let it stop and drop, lots of strikes are on the drop – be ready.

Fly fishing on the river has been good also, even when water is moving. Streamers are key to running water.

Well, ‘til next week my friends. Please give us a look at Custom Adventures Guide Service on Facebook for more info and great pictures of each week’s trips or give us a call at (479) 363-9632 for any questions. I`m a big fan of taking a kid fishing, one of the reasons is… look at Karson`s smile.
