Hello all, I`m happy to learn about this opportunity for kids to learn to fish this summer with Doug the Riverman on the beautiful Kings River near Eureka Springs on Saturday, June 18, or Saturday, July 25. Ages 7-14 years old. Drop your kids off at 10 a.m.

Upon arrival, they will have a short introduction, short hike, learn about the river, catch and identify bait, have a shore lunch and then proceed to catch fish, take pictures and end the day with a swim. The Kings River is a very shallow and safe river for this kind of lesson of wade fishing. He will spend time with each child and give them one-on-one lesson on carefully baiting hooks, casting techniques, and practicing proper methods and the importance of catch and release.

Registration will be on a first come first serve basis, with a limit of 10 kids per date, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. BYO lunch and beverage.

Each kid will receive their own fishing pole and bait bag. No hooks and bait are needed as they will be supplied.

Make sure kids have sunscreen applied. Mask optional.

Shorts and an old pair of tennis shoes are the best apparel and bring a towel.

Waivers must be signed by parents on the day of the event. High water levels may require rescheduling.

No fishing license is needed.

$100 per kid with proceeds providing fishing equipment, a signed book, shirts, and other educational materials for future classes and expenses. Will need the child’s youth t-shirt size.

Payment must be made to secure the spot on a first come first serve basis. Cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo is available.

Sponsorships are available for anyone that can’t afford the fee. All kids’ sponsorships are kept private. All are welcome to donate. (Doug was sponsored for an Audubon Society camp as a kid with no money, so please don’t let this be an obstacle.)
