Hello all, first off want to wish everyone the best week you can have.

I had a great trip this week with Ken Holland and his son, Ryan, this last week, locals who belong to this area. It was a gift certificate that Ken had purchased in February for his son’s 40th birthday.

We had high water this week, but we were still able to find the fish. Great enjoyable trip with good conversation, plus the good food that Ken’s wife made for us helped to make the trip even better – we had cranberry bread and coffee, then broke out lunch with one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I have been sworn to secrecy about what was in this sandwich but can guarantee I cannot make it this good. I think it had some love put in there.

The day was so nice at the beginning with weather, but fish were not biting, then after about 10:30 the bite was on. We were using nightcrawlers and power bait for the most part.

We trolled with Shad Raps in shades of orange, and shad imitations.  We are seeing an abundance of shad in the river close to the dam right now. Some are dead and some just kicking it.

With the river being so high, bank access is limited.  But the water, even with just some of the floodgates still open, is only like one generator on. Still fishable but not a lot of bank room.

We had our best luck drift fishing (going with the flow) with power bait and nightcrawlers injected with air to help keep afloat about 19-22 inches from the bottom. Trolling was producing, also.
