I hope that everyone had as good of a week as I did, even with all the rain. I had some repeats from Dallas, Texas, this last week that have been coming to see me for 20+ years. I call them my Dallas girls.

Ivy and Vanessa have come every year to celebrate Vanessa’s birthday with me on the first of May. Of course, after that many years, we have become great friends. Does not seem like that many years ago. She brings some different friends every year, this year we had six girls in total coming from all around, like Colorado, Louisiana, and Dallas, of course.

Times are fun every year, food is even better every year. We usually go all day everyday fishing, but this week brought us some inclement weather. They came in to stay at Sugar Ridge Resort, we got to go out to eat at the Grotto wood fire grill & wine cave in town that evening, always a treat!

Then off to bed to get up and was able to fish the White River for some trout. Stocked up well, then the next day got to go out during breaks in the rain and did fairly well. Just didn’t get to go all day because of the rain. So, we watched radar for windows of opportunities. But we fished every day.

With so much rain, they had to open the gates wider, and we were not able to get on the river. So, we all switched gears and went to Beaver Lake. We trolled around some points, bluffs, and sandy gravel bars with crank baits.

One day on Beaver Lake we caught walleye, white bass, rock bass, Kentucky, smallmouth, largemouth, bream, and a lot of great memories. Pictured here is one of the best smallmouths we pulled in off of Beaver Lake. All fish were caught on crankbaits, orange seems to be the best color this time of year.
