What a wonderful time of the year to be here with fish of all sorts running wild. Great fishing reports this week on rivers and lakes. All types of fish are trying to spawn in springtime weather. Spawning begins when the water temperature nears 56-66°.

Walleye already have been on the move and are about done with spawn, migrating up the White River Beaver Tailwater, and War Eagle rivers from Beaver Lake. White bass are right behind them. I love this time of year, we have even seen spoonbill working their way up the river to get to the dam. Exciting time of the year.

If you don`t fish, our sightseeing trips are an adventure of their own. Being able to see these fish in the clear waters is like looking in an aquarium. Sightings of White Bass have been all the way up the river but not in numbers yet. This week it should hit after these rains. Some have been caught already, and some reported as 17 inches, nice females, already.

This week I had one of my favorite repeat customers who’s been coming for years. Steve Fate, from Oklahoma, is the one in the floppy hat in the pictures. He always surprises me with the new people he brings. This time he brought his brother, Gary and his wife, Linda. Fun times were had, as Steve said would happen. His exact words were “you will have a hoot with Gary.”

Indeed, we all did, even his wife, Linda, had a hoot with Gary because at the beginning she was catching more than he was. But he caught up at the end of the day. (I think she let him) – so all was well. I love it when there is some competition on the boat. Special fun is when multiple boats are evolved. Pressure is on then.

We tried hard for walleye and white bass at the beginning of our trip and then decided it was time to harvest the trout.  Fun trip with an old friend and now new friends.

This time of year, you have to almost be out there every day to track these fish. And we are! When they are in spawn they have lockjaw, after they spawn they release or deposit eggs, then they head back downriver to Table Rock Lake. Then they will eat.

If you need help getting out there either to just see some nature or hang into that big fish let us know we will hook you up with the right guide at Custom Adventures Guide Service on Facebook for more pictures or (479) 363-9632. Take that kid fishing!
