Good day to all. We had wonderful weather for fishing this last week. I was able to get out fishing on the White River 3 days this last week but was not too successful, most of the trips were to make my dogs think they died and went to heaven. Boy they did, a must shower every night.

White River trout are plentiful. The Brown trout have been still biting well, and in nice sizes. Live bait nightcrawlers and minnows. Live bait at this time of the year will give you a better chance to catch a different species of fish. Powerbait is always a guarantee, the best colors are white and sunrise. On fly fishing try out Y2Ks, zebra midges, copper Johns, cerise San Juan worms, and sowbugs.

The fever is that the seasonal walleye are coming up the river. In the past few weeks all we were catching were small males, but this last week we have some nice pictures of sows being caught, like 7 pounds. Sows are large female walleye. Male walleyes will show up first below Beaver Dam and provide the early action weeks before the larger females arrive for their spring ritual of spawning. After they spawn, they will go back to their home waters of Table Rock Lake. Many ways to catch these fish but I’m not allowed to say anything, scouts honor.

Kings River is doing well on walleye also and smallmouth are out because of warmer weather. Can`t go wrong on jerk baits at each creek mouth, also each ripple. Crawdad pattern whether fly fishing or conventional fishing does well. The best fly would be anything white with a red wrap on its neck and don’t be afraid to go big as you can throw.

The picture of the week is Dr. Bob with this beauty of a Brown trout. He told me that it was caught on a local pond. Said that it hit on liver on the bottom. So, I guess he is a real fisherman, they all lie. But it is a beautiful fish nevertheless.
