They went to Jared – the one who organized local bass anglers to try their wrists at striper snagging on Beaver Lake last week. These stripers were caught between Point 11 and Point 12 in the mud flats, using live shad and brooder minnows.

The sunrise bite is poor, better biting is around 8 a.m. in 30-40 ft. of water.

Right now, the mudline is at the water intake at Nelson’s Holler, and the water is 52°.

The striper bite is good, but the crappie bite is excellent. Walleye, well, fair but improving, and bass were excellent just before the rain.

To get some crappie on the table, use slow presentation of jigs, heavy jigs for the deeper fish. Any color combo with chartreuse will work. Fishing from docks is great right now, and brush piles are good, but you have to move around a lot to find productive brush piles.

Those pesky crappie are also on the down low near steep banks. In clear water they’re much deeper, in 20-30 feet of water, and in dingy water they’re 5 to 15 ft.

Take a kid fishing, give a great, memorable Christmas adventure! (479) 363-9632
