Hope your week went well. As for me, it went well, I got to catch some fish this week, got my fix. Just being outdoors soothes the soul, but I caught fish, also. That makes me less cranky for a few days.

First off, went to my favorite place on the Kings River with fly rod in hand. My son tied me up some very good-looking flies, again in my favorite colors for the Kings River, white with a red neck.

I caught some nice smallmouth and a chub or two. For people who are not familiar with the creek chub, it is a small minnow commonly caught incidentally or accidentally on live bait, flies, and sometimes even lures. Growing to lengths of up to a foot, they can also provide a lot of fun on hook and line, whether or not they are caught on purpose.

They are also used as bait by many anglers and can be quite effective for larger fish like catfish. Part of the fun in catching chub was watching the bite. I would lay the fly in front of the school of the fish and watch 5 to 8 attack it. It worked for me. My moment to get away from it all. On a place on the river where no one was in sight, I had my dogs with me that could run free and have no worries.

Later in the week, I hit Lake Leatherwood got into some good bite on bass. I did my best on lures, we had minnows just did not have to use them. This is not the biggest bass but the cutest picture in my opinion.
