Well, I had failed attempts of trying to catch me some crappie this week and all I saw on the internet were pictures of walleye and crappie. Killing me because I feel like I know what I’m doing. I just did not locate them.

I need my good friend, Ken Russell, but he thinks I`m ghosting him whatever that means. Hoping he is reading this and takes me fishing anyway.

I did run across this little beauty this week messing around with nightcrawlers. You cannot miss with nightcrawlers. I`m sorry but # 1 bait is nightcrawlers for any species. You have to rig it different for some other fishies, but fish every time go for it.

Crickets fall second, along with minnows. Sounds like I`m a bait fisherperson but not always.

I love to play with a fly rod on the Kings River hoping for a smallmouth, trolling for walleye on the points on the lake, and along the river – bottom bouncers, not knowing what you will hang in river or lakes. The fish everywhere love to see something different, they will always hit something they have never seen before.

Lake temps are getting cooler, and this means the lake is going to turn over soon. That means a whole different ballgame. Let’s wait and see what this year has in store for us. It`s always a surprise and a new experience every year. You just got to know how to work it.

Looking back through journals can always help, a good guide will keep journals on weather, etc., info of each year patterns, spots and what fish hit, times and locations. I`m following mine.
