It`s been another great week of fishing in all areas this past week. Bass fishing has been very good, mainly being caught in very shallow waters. Texas-rigged with long dark-colored plastic worms have been working the best. Throwing the worm up to a bank that has sunken brush along its shoreline is a good idea.

The bass seem to be hiding next to the brush, then come out to ambush the worm as it passes by. Right before dark topwater bite has been even more fun on bass.

Crappie bite has been picking up each week. I haven’t had the chance to get out and get some for myself but this is the week for me. I have been told they are holding up on brush piles in 20 ft. to 40 ft. of water. They can be at any depth over the brush.

Best bait for catching large numbers of fish is live crappie minnows. I plan to bring 1/32-ounce jigheads and my array of Bobby Garland rubber bodied baits of various colors, crappie minnows, wax worms, and was told to bring some trolling baits.

The White River did not let us down this week, either. There has been wadable water until afternoons. For our flyfishing people the most productive flies have been small midge patterns like zebra midges. Grasshoppers have produced fish, particularly when used in conjunction with a small nymph dropper. Try a small bead-headed nymph (zebra midge, copper John or pheasant tail) suspended 18 in. below a brightly colored San Juan worm.

Conventional fishing has been doing very good. Colorado spoon (silver and gold), flicker shad size 5 in orange or shad colors has been working. Live nightcrawlers injected with air tipped with powerbait in yellow or white to help keep it afloat. Nightcrawlers have been producing the bigger fish, like this 4.6 -lb. Rainbow caught by Cody from Oklahoma.

Whatever fish you choose to target this week I wish you luck and fun. Keep us in mind if you choose you want to go on a sightseeing tour or fishing trip, Custom Adventures Guide Service. Look us up on Facebook or give us a call at (479) 363-9632, and take a kid fishing.
