We all know this weekend is going to be like the last hurrah for this year’s lake activities, water activities, cooking, camping, etc… The lake will be busy as well as the river, I`m sure of it. But don`t let that discourage you, get out and find your social distance area. Get some fishing time in. Between bites is a great opportunity to take a few deep breaths, appreciate the serenity of being by the water. If you are not into fishing it can even be a more serene sitting beside the waterside because of… calm – because you have no fish bites trying to trick you or having to mess with all the gear, peaceful – usually no sound (this weekend is no guarantee), tranquil – you seem to be able to let everything go and the feeling is like placidity and healing.

Fishing has been fantastic on the Beaver Tailwater – White River, bait fishing Powerbait rainbow in color, also all glitter Powerbaits, nightcrawlers pumped up with air to float and the “color of the day” egg or dough bait tipped on the end, let it drift on down, add more weight as the water gets faster. So, weight up.

Crickets on Lake Leatherwood is a blast for kiddos, and ever once in a while, some big monster seems to show up, so hold on.

On the Beaver Lake side, I have seen and heard striper reports from guides all over the place and they have been hammering them. Live bait seems to be the secret, find them on the graph and drop it or slowly troll back and forth over the wad of fish. Try different baits and different speeds. Calling a guide is the best thing to do on the first day.

Beaver Lake has also been producing plenty of bream, bass, and a few nice catfish, nightcrawlers are always a sure bet. Plastics and topwater in the morning or evening can trick them also.
