The heroes of the week are Fred Perry and Carl Caso. They teamed up to get this monster trout-eating machine out of our White River. This picture doesn’t do this fish justice. This striper weighed in at 27.6 pounds.

Fred and Hank hired out Carl Caso with That Dam Guide Service to go out and search for some walleye. They had caught a few short ones and a few trout. Then this monster hit hard, of course at first they thought they had the queen bee of the walleyes.

But after fighting this beast for a while using 8# line on a medium-light rod, Carl could tell from his years of experience of guiding and fishing on many lakes, rivers, and ponds that this was something different and big. So, he lifts anchors and together they manage to get this striper in the boat.

Off to the taxidermy they went. You may say, what’s the big deal I see pictures all the time on Beaver Lake of hawgs bigger than that. Yes, we do, but this was on the White River, striper are not supposed to be in there. Rarely are they caught out of there but every once in a while, when water is super clear you might come across packs of 5-8 cruising through looking for sweet trout.

Walleye love to eat trout, they suck them down like noodles. They don`t belong on our White River and we love it when we see one caught and brought out of there.

The way that they get into the river is when the Corps of Engineers opens the flood gates and a few slip through and survive. My last river striper was only 13 pounds. While cleaning that fish I came across two fully intact 12-inch trout and it was still wanting to eat.

Well, let`s get out there and do some fishing. Give us a call at (479) 363-9632 or look us up for more pictures and videos, Custom Adventures Guide Service, we like having fun. Take a kid fishing.
