Well, another day in paradise. I love living in Eureka Springs Arkansas. With all the outdoor activities among us, it is hard to figure out where to go. Then I did some research into little hidden treasures even closer to town. Black Bass Lake is located right at the edge of town. If you are unable to find it just ask local, they may or may not be able to help you for two reasons, #1 they might not even know about this overlooked gem of a little lake.  #2 they might not want you fishing in their secret spot. The lake holds bluegill, Spotted bass, Largemouth bass, and yes even Black Bass, from which the little lake gets its name. Black Bass lake also offers hiking trails and mountain bike trails.

Another spot close to is Lake Leatherwood. The park offers a playground, fishing, boating, camping, bird watching and so much more. Leatherwood has 25 miles of trails. This lake’s waters hold bluegill, crappie, Largemouth bass, and most important, Channel catfish.

Didn’t bring your fishing pole? Not a problem, starting March 12 the bait shop will be open on the weekends, and when the weather is nicer they will be open 7 days a week throughout the summer. They have fishing poles to rent, bait, tackle, snacks, and drinks. They also offer kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats for rent. Cabins and camping are available all year long.

Pictured here is a young man proclaiming the glory of where we live. Wherever you go, whatever you do, please remember that these wonderful treasures are there for you. Please don’t take them for granted.
