This week has given us some breaks, and the latter part of the week was divine in many ways.
I don’t talk enough about Table Rock, but I hear with these overcast days that the fishing is supreme. They’re mostly hitting bass and smallmouth and a few catfish. Using topwater action right before dark, tube jig and purple grape worm after the sun rises, then going deeper.
Where did the white bass go?
In the last two weeks, hotspots have been on Beaver Lake fishing for stripers. Guides are hitting it hard starting way before daylight.
I went out at nightfall twice this week, nighttime seems to have ceased some. Daylight to 9 o’clock is the hot time. Brooders and live bait – bream, bluegill, trolling. Main thing is you have to find bait fish on your graph and fish at them.
Fun, fun chasing new fish learning new methods.
This is Will Mauterer, he’s 14 and amazing. And this is Will’s striper, just over 20 pounds. His family brought him from Oklahoma and had reservations with a guide who didn’t show. I met them yesterday at the ramp and told them if their guide didn’t contact them, I’d run them out today, my day off, so they wouldn’t waste a trip, and would you look at that!
Some guides think a $400 trip is all these adventurers spend, but they stay in rooms, eat food, buy gas, licenses, supplies, take pictures they post on Instagram, tell about their adventure when they get home, and recount the trip forever and for everyone.
Get out and explore. This area has so much to bring to people, and if you’re staying in Eureka Springs, drive out to Beaver Lake and the White River just to feel it, soothe the soul.
