Good fishing all around again this last week. It’s just that time of year. Everything is abundant right now. I saw good pictures of big hawg catfish both caught on jugs, noodles, trot lines and also from the bank.

Shrimp, livers, nightcrawlers, chunks of chicken with a generous amount of cherry Kool-Aid all over it, and the small sunfish are good, too.

Bream are setting on beds and very active. Striper, white bass, smallmouth, walleye and, of course, crappie are all still going strong. As you can see in this great picture of Nate Seymore from Holiday Island, Arkansas.

Nate is the owner of Hayes Electric and can be reached at (479) 253-5351. Nate and his crew know what they are doing and are very professional.

He told me this fish is his personal best crappie 15 ¾ in, 1.71 lbs. He said it would have easily been over two lbs. before she spawned. To his surprise he thought it was a largemouth bass with the size of that papermouth. Now that’s a slab! She was released to produce another day.

He actually caught that crappie on a big spinner bait pre-fishing for the Holiday Island Big Bass Tournament last Saturday on Table Rock Lake. Nate came in 6th out of 164 people. His top weighed in fish was good a 3.25 pounder and the biggest was 4.6 lbs. Way to go Nate!

The White River below Beaver Lake is still the coolest place to be these days, temps are aways cooler down by the river and fish are aways biting.  Even if you are just standing along the riverbank, the soothing sound of water and cool air will ease your stress. Floating the river provides the perfect opportunity for relaxation and reflection.
