Right now is when you need to be out there. Great reports on Table Rock, Beaver Lake, all rivers, and hotspots at the farm ponds for slab bream and sunfish, crappie, catfish, white bass and striper, walleye, and spoonbill.

On Mother’s Day weekend Brandy and Johnny Bates were here. Johnny’s in the picture with a 24+-in. Brown trout and within 45 minutes cut another 23-in. Brown. We finally have water back in the White River, and fishing holes are back.

Johnny said their trip was good but had a few troubles.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been on the tailwaters. I grabbed the boat, backed into the water and it wouldn’t start. I had recently emptied the boat to clean it, so my jumper box was on the bench charging.

“Went back and got it and started the boat. Drove upriver to Spider Creek. Put the trolling motor down and one of the batteries was dead. No problem, I’m just happy to be fishing.

“First cast hooked into a nice Brown. As the fish was getting closer, I realized my net was not in the boat, it was at the shop. So, I reeled it to the boat, handed my wife the fishing rod and grabbed it by hand. This happened twice.

“I’m never bringing a net in the boat again. 23-inch brown and 24-inch brown caught within 45 minutes. First on an olive and black Zig Jig. The second on a white with silver tinsel and chrome head. Caught a few rainbow and a small Brown also. Fished from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.”

I think with this Brown and the other Brown on his Facebook page, it is well worth it.

Some people aren’t using anything other than Zig Jig right now. If you need help getting out for river fun and finding the right guide on lakes or rivers for your needs, give me a call at Custom Adventures Guide Service. Lisa, (479) 244-5259.
