Walleye still stirrin’. These guys are still out there and so are the white bass, fun time to be on the water again this week.

Twin Bridges and the White River and Beaver Lake are hotspots. On Beaver Lake you want to go up into the arms of creeks and rivers that flow into it. Fish are still spawning and that’s where they go. They’re very hungry.

I love walleye fishing. Even though they feel like a hang up, sometimes people in my boat say oh no I’m just hung up and then they jiggle their pole trying to get unhung up. I go no, no, no treat it like a fish!

Walleye don’t really fight too much until you get them up to the boat. then they see you… you see them and it’s on.  I’ve fished dozens of lakes and rivers all across the Arkansas in search of trophies. My trophy is in the Beaver Dam Store. a 13.2 walleye.

I love targeting true trophy walleye, but I also love catching fish. Fishing for white bass means I’m catching more fish. Lots every time, so the addition of those pesky whites can turn a four fish day into a 20 fish day! I don’t keep white bass, I just love to catch them, especially with a flyrod.

The fight with white bass is close to smallmouth bass. They fight harder than any fish.

Trolling is the best and most consistent way to catch white bass any time of year. Use multiple rods fished at different depths, based on the time of year when the fish are most likely hanging.

I really like to troll because it covers a lot more area. Some people hate trolling, and others love it.
I like to use crank baits that resemble anything that looks like a shad.
