Hello all I hope everybody had a wonderful holiday experience. I saw a lot of pictures of people going out during this time of year with all the holidays and family gatherings. It was wonderful seeing the pictures. It was very hard to choose this week’s pic, but this one caught my eye.

This is Greg Robinson with some nice slab crappies from Beaver Lake where he is a guide. His business is Greg’s Guide Service, and his crappie method is predominately slow vertical trolling. Greg’s number is (479) 601-1683.

He was out fishing with his good friend Lance Hughey who is also a guide on Beaver Lake. Lance Hughey Crappie Guide Service (Fishin’ is fun, catchin’ is better). Crappie, you know, is a soft, flaky panfish that’s easy to overcook. He can be reached at (479) 236-4105

Lance was able to give me a little information, he said they were fishing up the river on a shallow mud flat in 5-6 feet of water, slow vertical trolling minnows. Some people know it as spider rigging, where you push 6 or 8 trolling poles slowly out in front of the boat. He fished from 7-noon, and the bite was steady the whole time.

That sounds like a great day.

I also heard some good reports on Beaver Lake for catfish. Catfish are really picking up. They are biting everything: worms, catfish bait, liver, small perch, hotdogs. Even the guys who fish for crappie with jigs will pick up a catfish now and then. I also saw where striper anglers trolling with live bait, brooders, shad, or perch were picking up catfish.

So, all in all to me, it looks like Beaver Lake is the place to be. So, bundle up and get out there. If you need any help getting out to fish on having a sightseeing adventure, give us a call at Custom Adventure Guide Service (479) 244-5259.
