Hope all had a good week. Well, it was wet this weekend, and the much-needed rain made it hard for us to get out there and get that fishing done. But if you look for windows of opportunity by watching the forecast/radar you can make every day work for you. Seems like each day gave us a 2-to-3-hour period where we could get out there and get our fish on.

And that’s just what Ozark Full Stringers Guide Service, (479) 270-7773, did. Benjamin Jarman had taken some veterans out on a fishing trip who were doing a memorial for their vet friend Vern, who had passed on a couple of weeks before.

What a trip they had! They caught 40+ rainbow trout, also this one beautifully colored brown trout that Sheila caught for Vern.

Sheila is an Army veteran and a hero on the White River for this nice catch-and-release. Really, not everyone can catch a brown trout on the White River here in the Beaver tailwaters of Eureka Springs. Sheila is from Grove, Oklahoma, and when she caught this big brownie she talked smack to all the fellas, lol! The two men in the boat with her were from Oklahoma, also.

Sheila snagged this beauty on pink power bait and a gulp power worm, natural nightcrawler color, half-inch.

When he’s not totally booked up on guided trips, Benjamin gives away a free trip to a vet, at least one a month. Vern had been in the boat on a past trip, so it all makes sense. Way to go, Benji.

Truly the best time to fish the White River for trout, and land a trophy brown trout, is during the winter months. Late fall and into early winter is when the giant brown trout are spawning mode.
