Well, the weather can’t cooperate much more than it did this last week, as the week was pleasant before the weekend toaster. It’s all about managing your times when you’re going to go fish. Plan these fishing trips.

Planning a fishing trip:  If you’re going to go somewhere for two or three days, the best thing to do when you get to waters you haven’t explored before is to hire a guide. Plan to have a little extra budget for your trip, hiring a guide is one of the best things you can do on the first day of a arrival – you’ll likely learn a ton about the area you’re fishing (making your other days there more productive), you’ll get to experience a river or a lake with someone taking you to the best spots, helping you, and who has a job to make your experience great.

Next is planning snacks, food and beverages. Food and beverages can make or break a trip. On most of my guide trips my people have always brought me snacks. I have had some spectacular exotic things on the boat that people bring.

First no bananas in the boat, if you’re any kind of a boater, you know about no bananas on the boat.  It’s bad luck for recreational fishermen. The first time I learned about it, I was working at the Beaver Dam Store. When I had a guide trip in the morning, I would work the evening shift and park my boat in the back of the store. One time I went out, and there were three bananas lined up in the bottom of my boat. Still don’t know who put those bananas in my boat.

Bring the right gear. I like to be prepared, you can always bring it, but if you don’t have it you can’t use it.

Make sure you know the rules and follow them for the water bodies you’ll be visiting.

Camera. When you catch the fish, you want to document it. Taking pictures will help you hold that memory forever.
