I hope everybody had a wonderful week and got to get out and enjoy some of these milder temperatures. My daddy always told me to watch the cows. If they are up and eating, go fishing. If they are down resting, you might as well stay home.

In south Arkansas we used to have to drive about an hour-and-a-half to our favorite spot to fish. Once on the way there, about halfway there, I saw my daddy turn the truck around and go back home if all the cows were laying down in the pastures.

These days for me it’s just about being out there being with my dog. Exploring this wonderful world we live in. And wondering across wonderful people like Lester Wilkerson, doing his thing with Premier Trout Guide Service. premiertroutguideservice.com (479) 871-7887.

Lester grew up in Springdale, Ark., and has fished below Beaver Dam since 1977. If you want to learn how to fish the Zig Jig for trout, please call Lester. He knows the river, has great equipment and is willing to help you learn. You will have a fantastic time and catch a lot of fish. Lester said he prefers it when they’re generating water. That’s when the Zig Jig is the most effective for him.

He loves watching kids catch fish. This kid right here, Ben, 11 years old and from Fayetteville, is a jig fishing champ. First time jigging for trout. He caught more than 30 trout, all catch and release. Lester said he had to be one of the best he has seen pick up jigging for trout so quickly. All together they caught over 50 plus trout. Lester also stated it was a great trip.

Thanks, Jim and Kimberly Myshka and Ben, for going fishing with me.
