I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July spent with friends and family. We are truly blessed to be living in the land of the free here in the Ozarks. Let’s take a moment to remember the sacrifices that were made for this freedom.

Xieng Chanthavong owner and operator of Hooked On Fishing, LLC, hookedonfishingguideservices.com, has done it again on Beaver Lake, making exciting experiences for each trip he takes out.

They were out trolling for crappie and surprise, surprise. Bam. Here it is in his words. “We were near 412 bridge in the White River trolling Pico crank baits. I accidentally got shallow and initially thought we were hung on a log.

“After reeling about 15 feet, it started to shake its head and I handed the pole back to good friend, Mary, so she could fight it. I had to back the boat to fish because we were afraid it would’ve snapped our crappie gear. My scale bottomed out at 35 lbs., but we all agreed it was at least 40 pounds.

“After that we went to catch eater bluegill. Water temperature 85°.”

Don’t forget all the other wonderful places we have really close right here in this area, like the Kings River, Table Rock Lake, Black Bass Lake, Lake Leatherwood, and many more. Get out early in the mornings or late in the evening and beat the heat. Enjoy some of this that God has given to us.

Other reports I’ve heard on Beaver Lake, walleye have been pretty good on crawler harnesses and trolled cranks. Troll edges and points these days, you don’t know what you’re going to catch. That’s what I love about Beaver Lake.
