Hope everybody had a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend, the lakes and rivers were super busy jampacked. If people weren’t fishing, they were swimming and cooking out. The weather this year cooperated.

Report this week is on the White River.

I had repeat customers call for this weekend and my motor was down, so I called in the troops and they produced, as always. Benji with Ozark Full Stringers Guide Service and Travis with Golden Gate Guide Service.

Two couples came in this weekend and wanted two boats. John and Kate Peloza from Fort Worth, Texas, brought some friends in from Memphis, Robert and Jenny. Pictured here is Robert with a nice 19-inch plus Brown trout.

Travis said “This was caught on jerk bait. Been catching two or three. Just big enough the little trout hit it but can’t get the treble hooks in their mouth. Jenny was reeling small rainbows one after another on power bait and Robert asked if he should switch because the little trout could stay on. I asked if he wanted a big fish or many small. Next cast was a big brown even, lost one bigger moments after.”

I’m a firm believer in the bigger the bait, the bigger the fish.

Last week we mentioned River Man School 2023 for kids 8 to 14 held on the Kings River June 3, or if you miss out on that date another one will be held on June 10. One hundred dollars per kid. And all these dates filled up so he’s holding another one on the 17th of June, and spots are available. Please give him a call at Doug, the River Man, (479) 790-6491.

If you need help getting out on the river or just need some questions answered, give me a call at (479) 244-5259,

ask for Lisa. Take a kid fishin’ or sponsor a kid in the Riverman School.

Residents and non-residents may fish anywhere in Arkansas from noon Friday, June 9, until midnight Sunday night, June 11, without fishing licenses or trout permits. Regulations for Arkansas waters apply: daily limits, slot limits and length limits must be observed. An annual tradition sponsored by Arkansas Game & Fish.
