HavingREELFun

202

Woo hoo what a week I had last week! I love to say I was able to enjoy my Dallas girls, Vannessa and Ivy, who have been coming to this area to fish for 30 years. In the year 2000 and they hooked up with me, and the rest is history. Each year for 23 years they have come to fish on May 1, and it’s the perfect time when our white bass and walleye are still in the area.

The reasoning for them to come to this astounding and breathtaking area each year is because May 2 is Vannessa’s birthday. In past years they have brought friends and family to join in on the fun. But this time it was just the two of them.

One-on-one is good at times. It’s always nice to catch up on yearly events, and we keep in touch all year long and have become close friends.

Pictured here is the birthday girl, Vannessa Wade, and Ivy Brignoni from Dallas, with some nice walleye caught last week. We couldn’t seem to find white bass in the three days of fishing. But we were blessed with plenty of trout and some walleye.

Walleye are still here, so get out and get some.

I want to promote a project held by Doug “Riverman” Allen, called Riverman School 2023. I volunteered last year it was so rewarding in so many ways. Kids 8 to 14 can sign up to learn to fish on the Kings River on Saturday, June 3 or Saturday, June 10. Drop the kids off at 10, each kid gets a fishing pole, tackle bag and tackle, a Riverman hat and signed copy of The Riverman’s Guide to the Kings River. Pick either Saturday. $100, no fishing license required. (479) 790-6491.

If you’re looking to go sightseeing on the river or the lake or go on a guided fishing tour, give Custom Adventures a call at (479) 244-5259. Ask for Lisa.

Y’all have a great week and take a kid fishing.
