Riverview`s 1st walleye tournament is Saturday, March 11 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and weigh-in at 4:30. Limited to 25 teams, 2 per boat. What I found interesting about this tournament was entry fee was $100/per team + 2 walleye to be turned in for a fish fry afterward. Smart thinking!

Go by Riverview Resort, whether you’re fishing, having a picnic, going on a hike, or just sightseeing, stop in and see what I’m talking about. The food in the deli is so good.

“I wasn’t even looking when I found you” is what I`m calling this week’s picture. Dylan Paul with his big Brown trout, he looks very happy, surprised, stunned, and amazed. Dylan and his friend, TJ Buck, were trolling for walleye when this monster came out to suck down his crankbait. It was 30 inches and weighed in at 12.5 pounds. It was also the first fish of the day for them.

“It completely crushed the hook and straightened one split ring out,” Dylan said. He bragged on TJ’s netting abilities, saying if he hadn’t done a great job the fish would have gotten away. Dylan also said he thought he was hung up at first, it didn’t move at first after the initial takedown, and tightened the drag, then it was on. I wish I was there just to have watched it.

It couldn’t have happened to nicer guys, they said they don’t get out much, so they usually fish whatever is hot –mainly the lake, but they got a tip that the White River is swimming with walleye right now.
