Hello everyone, so glad to bring you the fishing report today. Our picture of the week is a good one. Pictured here is Cory Mabry fishing with Cory Davis. Cory fishing with Cory. They teamed up to make sure someone was a good net boy on this day. Beaver Lake scores again.

They weren`t even fishing for striper, they were set up for fishing a winter series bass tournament. Using 15-pound test line, ½ oz. hair jigs, trying to catch schooling bass around shad. The temp was 35° outside, water temp was 42°.

This beauty of a fish weighed in at 30.02 pounds. Released right away. In a lake full of different species of fish, there are only two or three types that count in these contests. If it’s not a largemouth, smallmouth, or spotted bass, they don’t count in most of these bass tournaments.

Now don’t forget about our beautiful White River just below Beaver Lake. That is if you can get down there to it. This is a great place to wade fish when they are not running water on the White River.

The first four miles are best for wade fishing. When someone says wade fishing, the first thing most people think about is fly fishing, but that’s not always the case. All types of anglers like to use waders. You are able to access pools and eddies in the middle of a shallow river that bank fishermen/women cannot.

These pools often hold the best fish that are less pressured than the ones closer to shore. Bank, boat, or wading here is what has been working on river.

Fly fishing: Rainbows on egg patterns like the Y2K, or even mop fly. Brown trout, use a bead-head olive woolly and a big white streamer.

Lures: Colorado spoons gold/silver early morn, late evening. Middle of the day, change over to crankbaits, orange, or any bright color.

Bait: You can’t go wrong using sunrise and white combo power eggs, tip it with a wax worm or any nice scent of something, shrimp, nightcrawler, minnow head, and crickets when in season.
