Hope everyone is loving this weather. We have more nice days to come in the next two weeks. Some of the high temps are going to make you want to get out in the woods to do some hiking or hit the trails to your favorite fishing hole.

It also brings out snakes that you don’t usually see this time of the year, that you may not even think about this time of year because you just don’t think it is snake season. But on these warm days, they love to bask in the sun to warm up.

Snakes are cold-blooded. That doesn’t mean they have cold blood. It means they regulate their body temperature by using the environment around them. When snakes need to warm up, they slither to a warm rock or log and bask in the sun. So just beware of your surroundings when out on your adventure.

This last week crappie was the hot item on Beaver Lake. Great reports from many folks. Pictured here is Sam, who went out on a crappie trip with Jon Conklin with Fish On Guides Services of Northwest Arkansas. He offers trips for multiple species of fish including walleye, crappie, and stripers. Look him up on Facebook for more great pictures.

The White River below Beaver Lake is never a letdown. This last week we had to work on it from time to time. One day hot and the next day a little tougher.  The rainbows prefer shad imitators (start with most anything white) and peach-colored egg patterns. Power bait with shrimp or worm tipped did really well after they started to run the water.
