Loving this fishing weather, other than some of those windy days. The White River gets the blue ribbon this week. Water conditions are still very low, when not in generation mode. It would be a great time to pull out a kayak or canoe and start from the dam down to Spider Creek landing. Even if you get out and drag a short period to get all the way down the river. Fish are packed in deep holes, pockets, and pools, you will see a few in this stretch of water. A trout permit is required to fish below the dam.

You will hit a section of water between the Dam and Spider Creek landing that’s called Beaver Tailwater Special Regulation Area and runs approximately one-half mile below Beaver Dam to approximately 100 yards upstream of Parker Bend Access, as indicated by signs: In this area, you will have some special rules.

  • Only artificial lures or flies may be used. All hooking points must be barbless. Natural or scented baits are not allowed. Chumming is not allowed.
  • Anglers may use no more than one fishing rod or pole at a time and must attend to it at all times.
  • Daily limit of 5 trout.
  • All trout from 13 to 16 inches in length must be released immediately and may not be in possession on Beaver Tailwater.
  • Only one trout over 16 inches may be kept.
  • Please don’t let this keep you from fishing this area, the no-bait zone is holding some of the biggest fish on this river.
  • Back in the old days, you were not able to keep fish in the area, and back in the day, we harvested trout so paddling hard on throwing this little area. Then learned later in life what big fish these holes held. I don’t harvest trout anymore and this is my favorite spot on the river, to fish and relax. The fish are a bonus.
  • We caught this fish in this area and released. I recommend everyone to take a quick picture and release in this area. Keep it sacred.
