Hello all, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving week. We traveled over to the White River tailwaters of Bull Shoals Lake Dam in Mt. Home, Buffalo City, and Cotter, Arkansas. We hit all these areas in four days, but really needed more time.

In the past trips over the years, so many on Thanksgiving, Rich and I concentrated on one area at a time, for like three days in one place. But this time we explored and loved it. Also heard that the Tiger trout were close to the dam area.

Cotter, Ark., was a railroad boomtown that sprang up in the early 20th century. Cotter was also one of the larger towns in North Arkansas back in the day.

The town is often called the “Trout Capital of the USA.” Today it is a well-known river town offering excellent trout fishing. They stock Rainbow, Brown, Cutthroat and now, Tiger trout. Tiger trout are a hybrid of Brown trout and Brook trout, experimental just to see if they can live in that area, which they are because I have had many friends who have caught them.

I call it the elusive Tiger trout, only because I have gone over there three times to put one in the boat and was not victorious on that… Ha! Chasing a new species is always a blast. Anticipation… when it happens it’s a feeling of fulfillment.

The picture is to show what I`m pursuing. The beauty of the fish is its unusual markings and delightful colors. Since only 2500 hundred were released in 2020, I would never keep one. Many were put in the catch-and-release areas on the river to ensure they would last longer.

Have a great week. If you have some pictures and stories give me a call. If you have any questions give me a call at Custom Adventures Guide Service for sightseeing trips or fishing trips. (479) 363-9632   Take a kid fishing, and dress them warm and in bright colors.
