Beaver Lake is a great place to put the boat in, we got great reports this week on all kinds of fish except walleye. They go missing during the turnover of the lake.

Crappie are on brush piles and can be had using jigs and minnows. Look for brush along and near main river channels and concentrate in 12 -16 feet of water.

As of last week, catfish still are being caught using live bait like bluegill or goldfish, or big shiners on the trotlines. With this cold spell, it should slow a lot of things down.

But not the stripers. Stripers are scattered throughout the lake. This is the time of year for migration from the dam area up into the mid-lake region. Striper fishing is about to really improve, Xieng and Juan reported. Some good stripers are moving up to the river arms. Live shad or live brooders will work, and there is a topwater bite for stripers in the morning.

I`m going for the top water bite every time. Pictured here is Steve from Lee Summit, Mo., one of the regulars who fishes with Xieng at Hooked on Fishing, LLC. He comes back when the action is hot. The fish weighed in at 17 and 10 lbs. This action was on Zara Spook, top water. Give Hooked On Fishing a call at (479) 225-4849. They can tell you about walleye, crappie, and striped bass, when it’s hot and when it`s not. That’s what I like about them.

On the other hand, we have our sweet White River below Beaver Lake Dam, full of trout waiting for you. Bank or wade fishing has been somewhat better than having the boat these days because the water level is so low when the Corps is not generating.

Fly fishing egg patterns, zebra midges, and natural San Juan worms attracted some attention. Power Eggs with shrimp or nightcrawlers will work well, and with the lower water try throwing spoons or a Rapala floater. Find the deep holes.

If you need help getting out on the river, give us a call at Custom Adventures Guide Service and ask for Lisa at (479) 363-9632. Take a kid fishing, dress them warm and bright. Have a great week getting outdoors.

Also, Saturday, Nov.12 was the opening day of modern gun deer season, so wear bright colors in or near the woods, even to the woodpile. This cold spell is expected to last until the end of the month. Put an orange vest on your dogs, too.
