Having REEL Fun

Brrr… Baby it’s Cold Outside. Don’t let the cool days keep you from hooking up. Just remember it’s not the temp that makes things uncomfortable on the water, it’s your gear. Layer up and get out there.

Last week I spent Thanksgiving on the tailwater with my best friend and spouse, enjoying one of the last warm days. We were rewarded with a walleye dinner. Rich hooked this one trolling in an undisclosed section of the White River. Got to love Mother Nature’s gifts.

Weather has turned and while it’s cold outside the fish are still out there. Trout enjoy cold water and so should you. They are just like you and me – they wake up hungry each day.

This week we had luck fishing on the White River with Powerbait in white and sunrise colors tipped with cricket. This is a tried-and-true method for trout. Then got the urge to troll Berkley Bad Shad Crankbait and what a surprise… more walleye.

Some great bass reports on Table Rock Lake and Beaver Lake. Stripers are back alive on Beaver Lake, active on top in coves near Beaver Dam. Throw a gaint Zarra Spook or a Whopper Plopper for topwater action. Check out some of the reports and pictures from local striper guides.
