This is my last column. I find I must take a sabbatical from talking about the madness.

During the past two years I have given the best information I could find. My aim was to inform and inspire my fellow citizens to be the Government By the People. We know that politics affects every area of our lives, all the way from the price of milk to will we be murdered during the normal course of our lives?

We now know that the man at the center of our government, aided by the entire GOP, is an asset of a foreign government. We know that his stated purpose of his administration is to dismantle the entire federal government. Grover Norquist infamously remarked that he wanted to shrink our government until you could drown it in a bathtub, and we’re drowning; drowning in red ink, red blood, red hats.

This year’s 250th mass shooting happened during the day, the 251th followed later that night. Domestic terrorists are being encouraged by the president to murder their fellow citizens for the color of their skin, the language they speak, or the country they are from.

In Rwanda, they imported machetes; in the U.S., we manufacture the guns and ammunition here for easier access. The mass murder body count is innumerable and that thought is heart searing and unconscionable.

In a few weeks time, Greta Thunberg will address the UN to plead for the world body to act now to slow the effects of global warming. She will then go to Rio for a summit that she says will tell whether humans will work to change the course they have set or not.

Few people like change even though there is only change, nothing lasts forever. Humans fear the greatest change of all; death, which comes to us all. It seems many would rather pretend that they will never die and kill the planet instead.

It’s not too late. Let’s make radical change and choose life for future generations.
