The Arkansas State Police report that a traffic accident at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22, on US Hwy. 62 near Onyx Cave Road resulted in the death of Raymond Scott Kinnunen, 58, of Fayetteville, Ark.

The Arkansas State Police report said Kinnunen was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound when a vehicle in front of him slowed to turn, and he was thrown from his motorcycle. Kinnunen was then hit by a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle also headed eastbound driven by Rendell S. Whitehead, 54, Rogers, who sustained injuries and was transported to the Eureka Springs Hospital. Road conditions were sunny, clear and dry.

Michael Fureigh, who was stopped in traffic because of the accident, estimated that US 62 traffic was tied up for about 25 minutes while two ambulances, two police cars and several sheriff’s vehicles responded to the accident near County Road 207.

“Fortunately, everyone waited until the authorities waved us through,” Fureigh said.
