Carroll County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident on Jan. 26 at 2:04 a.m. on U.S. 62 between Berryville and Green Forest. Three people were ejected into a “pond” on the south side of the highway.
Victor Gonzalez-Castro, 54, and Kimberly Barrios-Cifuentes, 25, were treated at a local hospital and transported to Carroll County Detention Center. Gonzalez-Castro was booked for Driving While Intoxicated and Negligent Homicide. Barrios-Cifuentes was booked for local misdemeanor warrants.
The third occupant, Sara Recopalchi-Hernand suffered fatal injuries and will undergo an autopsy to determine cause of death.
