Fat Tire Festival management on Parks’ radar

Parks commissioner Dave Hartmann asked at the October Parks meeting what is happening with the Fat Tire Festival next June, saying it seems like a big endeavor and he wondered if it was something to vote on.

Commissioner Christian Super sat down with Director Justin Huss earlier in the week and said he felt better as the operating numbers were in the black and the CAPC is “fronting the event capital.” Hartmann still wanted to know whether Parks should vote on it. He also brought up the idea of creating an events’ coordinating position that was not discussed further.

Commissioner Scott Bardin asked what the benefit would be for creating a cost/benefit analysis, and Chair Bill Featherstone said that the time staff needed would be quantified after the event. He said that with the event management now in town it will “hopefully” make it more economically friendly for businesses.

A motion to approve Parks organizing the Fat Tire Festival was put on the agenda at their next meeting.
