Virgo Labor – Hercules & the Queen – the choice for good or evil
Each month, as the Sun enters a new sign, a gate opens for those walking the Pathway of Light. The pathway has twelve gates leading to the City of Light or City of Humanity. Inside the gate one encounters a labor, (Labors of Hercules, humanity is Hercules), a task, a drama, a play and a lesson to be learned. When the Sun enters Virgo, the sixth sign, the Sixth Gate opens to the labor called “The Golden Belt (girdle) of Queen Hippolyte.” Here is the story.
In Classical Greek mythology, Hippolyta (/hɪˈpɒlɪtə/; Greek: Ἱππολύτη Hippolyte) was the Amazonian queen (her father was Ares, god of war) who possessed a magical golden leather belt (girdle) given to her by Venus, goddess of love.
The belt signified her power and authority as queen of the Amazons (a tribe of women warriors). Above all the belt was a symbol of unity achieved through great struggle, conflict and strife. It was also a symbol of motherhood and the carrying of the Holy Child (the Soul), which is the task of Virgo (matter). The belt was like a crown but more magical.
The Labor & the Task – Hercules was told by his Teacher to find Hippolyta and to receive the magical belt. However, Hercules, his personality inflated by his previous acts of courage, mistook the Queen as an enemy and killed her, thinking of her as “an enemy of a different sort!”
His pride didn’t allow him to realize the Queen (feminine principle) was his friend, not his enemy! She was going to give Hercules the belt of unity with no struggle! Hercules failed to understand his spiritual mission – to choose love and the good over evil and killing. Hercules killed the mother of the sacred child.
The story of the Virgo Labor is the war between the sexes, ancient in origin, wherein the feminine principle is sacrificed. It is a war inherent in the duality of humanity, the duality humanity lives within daily – that of light/dark, good/bad, cooperation/competition, peacefulness/war, life/death, virtue/vice and the principles of male/female (most misunderstood). Ultimately it is the awakened choice between evil and good. A choice humanity makes when the personality is illumined by the Light of the Soul.
ARIES: Creativity is released internally when relating to children and loved ones, when participating in the arts, playing games and even when looking in the mirror where you see a reflection of your individualized self. Simultaneously, work calls you to make future plans based upon hopes, wishes, visions and dreams. On friends, too. Love is holding you. Can you feel it? Don’t gamble. And get more mirrors.
TAURUS: Home, family, land, mother, father and tending to where you live (or lived) are your focus. You seek reassurance in this replay. It’s not Mercury retro yet (that’s early November), but the eclipses (September) will bring these forth, asking what will you do and how long will it take to make those momentous resource decisions? Your body also needs concentrated care. Swimming is best. And time in the Sun. Are you worried? We stand with you.
GEMINI: Are you sleeping? Are ideas about travel being impressed upon your mind? There’s a great amount of organizing, restructuring and communicating needed at home. Are you feeling dislocated, disoriented (or something)? What needs discussion? Did something from the past appear — a feeling, situation, person or health issue? Where is your support? Who do you love?
CANCER: Resources and money are concerns. As you deeply ponder upon finances, new ideas on how to appropriately use (and share) your money and values and resources appear. It’s possible a new value system emerges based on family (and later, world) needs. Observe changes in your thinking concerning these issues, especially resources, their availability, source, and how you express yourself through them. Do express yourself with more freedom.
LEO: Self-identity, values, resources, how you communicate, family stories, and a safe home filled with Vesta light is your focus. Leadership and being out and about in the world also have significant meaning. The light of the Sun ]streams toward you from the heart of the Sun creating many changes and a lasting ending to parts of your past. Your gifts are many and needed by humanity. Leos have the ability to have both Will and Love. Do you? Re-commit yourself as less the hermit and more the loving leader. Can you?
VIRGO: The Sun shines with its sunbeams in your house of contemplation, spirituality and listening for the voice of God. It’s therefore a proper time for calm, stillness, a respite, rest and relaxation. A time for pondering the future by gathering all strands of the past (like pearls), and by assembling new aspirations and daily life agendas. Things may feel a bit disciplined but a new harmony of self with others is forming as your self-identity restructures.
LIBRA: This is a time to review future hopes, wishes and dreams. Take time away from too much work and social networks to interact interiorly (like St. Theresa) within yourself. New goals, desires and aspirations are forming, thus reforming your values through constant inner dialogues. What are you thinking? The planets, shedding light on these issues, are shaping your future. Ponder upon what success means to you. For real success we need Goodwill and Right Human Relations. These are evocative words.
SCORPIO: What transforming issues are occurring to your sense of home, family and foundations? For a long time now, perhaps you’ve felt unmoored and unanchored? Does this give you a sense of freedom, liberation and expansion? Or is there a sense of lostness, disillusionment and dissolving? These are the tests and trials of Mars and Scorpio and they can feel relentless. The good thing is they create a deep level of creativity. It’s all holy and gratitude recognizes this.
SAGITTARIUS: Suddenly all you long for is adventure, travel, change, opportunities and a clear mind and heart. You keep exploring the recesses of your mind and heart trying to make sense of the/your world. But to no avail. It all eludes you. As your mind expands in one direction other parts dissolve away. And then wounds emerge. It’s like living in a thick fog of realities. Going away somewhere would help. A diversion, a respite. Soon.
CAPRICORN: For years your sense of self was shifting and changing. Now your values are in a state of being redefined. More love is needed. Attempt a bit more intimacy with loved ones. Intimacy is sometimes reading together. At times, it’s reading scientific materials. At other times it’s reading cookbooks, planning and cooking meals together. Other times it’s communicating from the heart. You and your family will be working and functioning under divine influences. Watch the stars this week. They send you messages. The beauty will be surprising.
AQUARIUS: With all communications in the coming week and months, remember to use a tone of kindness, care, gratitude and nurturance. You could easily communicate a sense of criticism and strictness others won’t understand. Emphasize instead the importance of recognizing others, praising their work. Remember to radiate conscious goodwill. Let these define you, your interactions and communications. They lead to success, intimacy, happiness and joy.
PISCES: Health needs must be focused upon along with creating new daily plans, agendas and soon, autumn projects. Tend to health very carefully for the next three months. Work ceaselessly in creating a new work environment. Daily exercise and study will keep your energy balanced. As you work within the constant of continual change, you’ll begin to understand the Buddha’s teachings. Careful with loved ones. Make fresh tonics and vegetable juices. Pick and eat fresh berries.
