Ecological disaster or worse

Editor,

One mile upriver from the Beaver Bridge and directly across from our home sits a 40 ft. long by 12 or 15 ft. gasoline or oil tank stuck in the mud since it arrived there 10 or 12 years back during a flood. It’s usually mostly under water.

There is no way of knowing whether it has 10,000 gallons of flammable explosives, gasoline, oil, or some horrible chemical sitting there waiting for rust to release whatever the hell it is into the White River. Where the blank is the Corps of Engineers?

Left in the river, it has the potential to destroy fishing, wildlife, recreational use of the river and our health since many of us depend on our wells for drinking water. With the water level down in the river, it sits there rusting directly across from my wife and me.

Everyone on the White River, especially at Beaver and Holiday Island should be alarmed at the potential danger and loss of the use of our beautiful White River. Corps of Engineers, get off your asses and do something about this.
