Dropping a Line

Brad Gilly from Great Forest with a nice largemouth bass he caught and mounted himself. Believe I will fish till the day I die but taxidermy with one eye is very hard to do, so hoping he will enjoy painting his fish as much as he did mounting it so maybe I can pass it on as we all should do when it comes to fishing.

We have good weather down the road now with fish spawning so take a kid out and teach what you know. Teach a kid to fish but and when you’re too old to catch they just might bring you a good mess of crappie or walleye that will fill your belly and maybe some memories to share also.

Well, this rain is the one that will finish kicking in this spring. We have walleye being caught up the river arms now. The tailgaters here have walleye all the way to the dam, which gives you a good chance of catching with good shoreline access if you don’t have a boat.

Minnows, jigs and pretty crankbaits can catch them now. Walleye fishing is also hot up the Kings and Roaring River arms just across the border on the Missouri side of Table Rock. They are also being caught on Beaver Lake up the river and major creek arms but when I’m on Beaver I’m carrying my striper rods that seem to be bending for me up the White and Water Eagle arms of the lake.

After this rain the dogwoods will bloom and the spawn is on. Same for the white bass. Just go against the current in any major creek or river arm and if you find water temps above 55 you should find stripers or big white bass for the time is here and live wells are getting full. So get out and get a line wet and you will see why I love the Ozarks so.
